Repair Bad Credit by Monitoring Your Scores

So your credit reports show that your scores have taken a little tumble.  You are not the only one in this boat.  Some people will accept their fates as poor credit risks and pay through the nose for the rest of their lives.  Others will fight to improve their scores through a careful campaign of financial prudence and vigilant monitoring of their scores on all three bureaus

I know which group I'm in.  I never was one to back away from a fight.

How does checking your credit reports help you repair your credit rating?  Let me count the ways:

  1. Information is power.  If you don't even know where you stand, how are you going to progress from here to there?
  2. Setting goals is the key to achieving success.  When you pay attention to your ratings, you can set monthly, quarterly and annual goals.  Once you do that, you will find yourself taking the action that will help you succeed.
  3. The last thing you need is a setback that is not your fault.  The key to correcting errors in your credit reports is to learn about them as soon as they happen and act on them quickly.  How are you going to act if you don't even know what's in your report?
  4. Strategy wins battles, not luck.  The best way to improve is to know what is wrong.  You will know what's wrong by looking at your reports.
  5. The mere fact that you are paying attention is a good thing. Don't you think the credit bureaus know when you are paying attention?  I am pretty sure they do.

So, when is the last time you checked your credit reports, anyway?
